CID activist arrested and mistreated after demonstrating against poor water service



The delegate of the organization Cuba Independent and Democratic (CID) from the municipality of Antilla, Esber Rafael Ramirez Argota, was arrested at 11 am after peacefully protesting, with posters and slogans, to the director Ulises Olmo at the offices of the Water and Sewage Company. The arrest was carried out by Major Henry Borrero Peña and the uniformed henchman Yoel Arias Planel. The activist was quickly taken to the barracks and transferred to a fire department in the same municipality, where he was shaken by police officer Yoel. He was also threatened inside an office by Major Henry Borrero Peña and two young men from the Ministry of the Interior (MININT). The activist complained about the deficient attention in the hospitals, the bad service of the Water Company and the reprisals that are taken against those who defend the rights of the people. The activist was released at 7:30 pm after water was poured into a pipe car.
