A case of a man detained, beaten and imprisoned without definite accusation (Guantánamo)



On 15 May the activist Eider Frometa was arrested for trying to prevent an act of repudiation against a young man for being disengaged from work shouting anti-government slogan. Eider was arrested by the chief protagonist sector in the area Olimpio Moreira Matos. Then Eider was transferred to the unit where he was beaten by the same officer. He was later transferred to the operating unit where he was also beaten by three uniformed and pepper sprayed. All the time he was handcuffed until he lost consciousness. He was taken to the provincial hospital of Guantánamo but finally they led him to the medical post in the provincial prison combined of Guantánamo. After being detained for 48 hours Frometa Allen had to be hospitalized due to the beating.
