Woman detained for 3 days while defending her sister



Maidolis Alvarez Matos was detained by Major Reynier Rodriguez and police when she was accompanying her sister who was going to visit her detained son. First, the police detained only her sister, but when Maidolis saw it, she tried to help her and started shouting anti-government slogans and condemning what they were doing to her sister. The police pushed Maidolis against the car and handcuffed her. Then she was put into the car by force and taken to the police station in Maisi, where she was accused of disrespect and resistance. She was released 3 days later on September 6 and fined 1500 pesos. She was threatened that if shouted again the anti-government slogans, she would be prosecuted.
