William Esmérido Cruz Delgado is a member of the Independent Trade Union Association of Cuba (ASIC). On Thursday, 8 August, he was detained in the municipality of Colón as a part of the police operation led by three secret police officers, namely: Orlando Figueroa, Dayron y Alberto Surí. That morning, Cruz Delgado was visiting, along with three other activists from their organization, a former political prisoner Iván Hernández Carrillo. When all four of them went to the Liberty Park in order to get on the car, they were detained and driven to the police station in Colón. When they arrived, they did not receive any document on their detention. The officers confiscated Cruz Delgado 24 pesos in CUC and all the printed materials he was carrying. He did not receive any written proof about the confiscation. He was also given an official warning for keeping "subversive propaganda" and he was fined 7.50 CUP for not having his ID on him. He was released in Colón at 3:30 pm.
