On January 11, 2022 the Cuban police carried out a police siege in the province of Holguin. Thanks to this, they detained multiple people who were going to show support to opponents, relatives and political prisoners who were detained in the July 11 demonstrations, since this day -January 11- was their trial. The peaceful opponent Fidel Manuel Batista was a victim of these arrests, as he was beaten, deprived of his freedom and taken to jail. He was released on January 14.
