In the early hours of the morning, Juan Eduardo Salgado Jurado came out of his house on to go to the house of his brother in fighting, when suddenly a patrol car appeared out of nowhere, belonging to the chief of the CI in Manzanillo, Lieutenant Oscar Izaguirre, Camilo, an official of the political police, and two agents of the PNR (National Revolutionary Police Force), the chauffer and his friend from the patrol car. Without giving him a reason or telling him what was happening, they pushed him into the car where they drove him to the PNR center at Manyanillo. After being in the unit and after 4 hours of arbitrary detention in a cell, they told him that he was arrested because at dawn there appeared some signs that said "no more communism, no more Castro, no more hunger, live free Cuba, live UNPACU" (Patriotic Union of Cuba). He told them that if that was the reason, they would have to arrest all the people, because no one wants Castro or his communism anymore. Upon hearing this the officer got upset and told him that the next time a sign appeared in his town, he would disappear all the opponents, and all this under strong threats, including even death threats.
