On 5 February, 2021, Esber Rafael Ramírez Argota, a representative of the organization Independent and Democratic Cuba (CID) in the municipality of Antilla, was a victim of a house search. The operation was carried out by 12 policemen – 6 of them were in uniforms and 6 of them were State Security agents. It was led by Yoan Torres Reines, the State Security chief in the Holguín Province. They confiscated him 2000 pesos in CUP and two computers – one was his work computer and the other one belonged to his son. They also took his daughter’s cell phone in order to prevent her from recording what was happening. Eventually they handcuffed him and took him to the penalty instruction unit in the Holguín Province. There he was kept for 72 hours.
