Victim detained for more than 10 days without trial for participating in July 11 march.

On July 12, Angel Luis Marrero Palomino was summoned to the PNR Station where he was accused of being a promoter of the July 11 march and protest. For this reason, Mr. Marrero is detained and sent to the criminal investigation in Caibarien. On July 19, the Placetas Municipal Prosecutor's Office imposed a provisional prison sentence as a precautionary measure and transferred him to the "La Pendiente" penitentiary center. Mr. Marrero was released on August 23, however, he received a monetary penalty of 2000 Cuban pesos. He was informed that this was due to the fact that the PNR has the power to resolve cases such as his without going to the corresponding courts.
