A member of UNPACU was going to Santiago de Cuba to attend an assembly on human rights. He did not arrive to the assembly, because he was detained by the State Security at the checkpoint. Also, they stole his memory card. Being arrested, the victim explained to the bus passengers why the activists fight. This checkpoint is one of the most famous checkpoints in the country for the abuses.
