Activists fined and detained for six hours for not being part of state institutions

Two women from the Federation of Cuban Women entered Licet María Santos Moreno's home without permission when she was meeting with eight women from her group. Licet and the victim were asked why they did not belong or contribute to the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) . One of them replied that they are not part of the Federation because it is not an institution by which they feel represented or supported. The women of the FMC accuse Licet and the other women of not having revolutionary dignity, of being a "sell country" or, among other offenses, of being parasites of society. When the two representatives of the FMC left Licet's house, the operational guard arrived with the political police officer First Lieutenant Darío. State agents detained and transferred Licet and the other women from the group to the Jovellanos National Revolutionary Police (PNR) unit. The victims were detained for more than 6 hours and were fined 300.00 pesos (12.50 USD) for disturbing the order and violating national integrity.
