Eider Frómeta Allen is a political prisoner being held in the Kilo 8 prison in the province of Camagüey. He began a collection of signatures inside the prison to demand that the government give proof of life to the leader of the Patriotic Union of Cuba (UNPACU) José Daniel Ferrer García. On September 1, several Officers of Internal Order (FOI) searched his cell in his absence and found the signature collection document. As a result, he was confined to a narrow, dark punishment cell without his belongings and without the rights he is entitled to, including a telephone for communication with his family and a mattress to sleep on. He was kept in this cell for 15 days due to this action of collecting signatures in favor of the UNPACU leader.
