Arelis Palacio Alcina belongs to the Latin American Federation of Rural Women (FLAMUR) and the Republican Party of Cuba (PRC). Arelis was mistreated by the police while she was in detention where she was left without water or food. After about 10 hours of her detention, the region head of the police silently approached her and slapped her on thigh, which seemed to be a sexual conduct. The victim told him not to touch her and not to hit her anymore. She also said that she is married and respected woman. The repressor got immediately annoyed and told her to leave, pushing her so hard that she rolled down the stairs endangering her own life.
