Human rights defender arrested after his arrival to Camajuaní and kept at the police station for more than 24 hours



On 8 August, 2020, at about 12 pm, an activist from the Cuban Reflection Movement in Cienfuegos, Demis Valdés Sarduy, was arrested when arrived to the bus terminal to Camajuaní from Santa Clara. The action was led by Major Erik Francis, the head of the Confrontation Unit. Valdés Sarduy was driven to the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) in Camajuaní. There he stayed for one hour and he was then taken to the PNR Unit in Santa Clara. Two hours later, he was taken to the PNR Unit in the municipality of Ranchuelos where he was received by policemen from the Cienfuegos Province. Eventually, Valdés Sarduy was driven to the 1st PNR Unit in Perla del Sur where he was kept in detention until the next day at 7 pm and then released.
