Lázaro Yuri Valle Roca is an independent journalist and a human rights defender. On 8 November, he was about to travel with his wife to Nicaragua, where, with money borrowed from his relatives, wanted to buy some goods and resell it in Cuba. However, the State Security prevented him from traveling since his status had been "regulated". As a reaction, Lázaro together with his wife started to peacefully protest in order to be refunded for the flight ticket. After that, they were both detained and imprisoned in the prison cells of the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) in Santiago de la Vegas for more than 48 hours, being accused of public disorder, disrupting the airport security and not having a license for transporting the posters they were carrying.
