The arrest and imprisonment of man denouncing a beating (Guantánamo)



On March 30 Jorge Junior Cortina Ramírez appeared in the police station known as 24 Park in city Guantánamo to report a beating he had received two days ago by two men in plain clothes, who, during the beating, they shouted that if he kept his activities in defense of human rights, they would kill him. Already in the station, after making an official complaint before the instructor named Leon, this offcer told him that it was claiming by the court of the municipality Manuel Tames, since 2011. The officer Leon reminded him his case of 1 of 2012 and immediately took him to the police station of the municipality El Salvador, located 12 km northwest of the city. On 1 April he was transferred to Guantánamo provincial prison celebrating the trial on 8 April. Being a former political prisoner Cortina Ramírez got there as a sentence of eight months imprisonment.
