Mileydis was travelling in a collective cab to Santiago de Cuba, where she was planning to join a peaceful march Todos Marchamos carried out by the Cuban Patriotic Union (UNPACU). When the vehicle was arriving to a municipality of Santa María, Mileydis and other UNPACU activists were pulled out by force from the vehicle by secret police officers. They had to stand on the road for several hours and then she was put in another car which took her to the National Revolutionary Police Unit (PNR) in the municipality of Mella. There she received death threats if she continued with her activities in UNPACU and with being driven far away from there.
